Underground Poker Games Running in UK During COVID-19 Lockdown

While official live poker might be totally dead right now, it looks as if some players just can not shake off the bug.

During the lockdown situation poker players are chomping at the bit to get a little action. So much so that they are prepared to risk getting busted by the police for an unauthorised gathering.

A UK-based player has shown an invite to his usual dealer’s choice on Twitter.

“Missing my live Dealer's choice game but evidently not as much as they’re missing me…”

Full hospitality and accommodation being available makes it look like a serious affair.

What For Live Poker after COVID-19?

The situation around the world has no doubt improved over the last couple of weeks but there’s still a long way to go before things get back to normal.

Everybody wants to know when live poker will actually kick off again.

Will we be in a situation where the economic damage forces amateurs to stay away from the games until everything improves?

The online game is booming now, for sure, but that doesn’t necessarily mean those players will automatically want to play live. The minimum investment is a lot higher to play live poker, that is unavoidable.

Only time will tell, but the signs are good so far for the lockdown being relaxed over the next six weeks or so. It’s just a case of hoping that the number of new COVID-19 cases does not start to rise dramatically as it might have done in Germany.
