A record-breaking 3554 entries had started out on the quest for WPT Deepstacks glory in the $1050 buy-in tournament, and by the final day only 18 remained, partypoker pros Ludovic Geilich and Joni Jouhkimainen among the contenders.

Scotland’s Geilich couldn’t add another trophy to go with his SHRB win this week, falling in 12th for $27,259, while his Finnish teammate took 11th for the same amount.

East’s fellow countryman, Philip Mighall embedded himself in 5th place for $116,215 among a slew of Russian players, one of those - Maksim Bukreev – taking 4th for a $167,748 payday.

Another ‘Englishman’, this time the ‘adopted’ Greek player Dimitrios Farmakoulis, took 3rd for $253,755 after some excellent short-stack play, setting up the East-Van Fleet heads-up clash.

A 6-1 chiplead for Van Fleet was quickly reversed and then the pair traded blows for the rest of the hour-long battle, culminating in this final hand – all the chips going in on the flop with Van Fleet needing a spade, king or running treys to survive...
