High-Stakes Pro Brad Booth Reported Missing, Whereabouts Unknown for Weeks

Veteran high-stakes poker pro Brad Booth has been reported missing by friends after disappearing from the Reno area around July 13. The 43-year-old Booth, a native of Canada widely known in the poker world as Yukon Brad, was last seen leaving Reno’s Grand Sierra Resort Casino that day.

A missing-person report filed on July 30 indicates that Booth told his roommate that he was “going camping”, though Booth reportedly only took with him enough supplies to last for a day or two. Booth’s vehicle, a 2002 silver Toyota Tacoma pickup with NV license number 601PMR, is also being searched for by Washoe County officers.

Poker podcaster Adam Schwartz was one of the first to sound the public alarm about Booth’s disappearance, tweeting this on August 3:

Booth was once a participant on NBC’s popular Poker After Dark and was also once among the old Full Tilt Poker’s “red pro” legion. However, much of Booth’s enduring fame was due to his involvement as a major victim of the UltimateBet insider cheating scandal, where he was likely cheated out of more than a million dollars. The aggressive-playing Booth (who was prone to wild bankroll swings anyway) later went bust, then emerged a couple of years later with a tale of how he had owed and paid back roughly $860,000 of debt to his fellow players, earned by grinding away in poker games “up north”.

Booth has also been the subject of occasional controversy, including a 2012 tale in which he admitted stiffing fellow cash-game pro Doug Polk for $28,000 in an online-for-cash swap.

Though the length of time since his disappearance is a major concern, Booth is known for his individualism and iconoclastic nature. Friends and family have expressed their hopes that Booth has just chosen to lay low for an extended period, also noting that Booth’s vehicle hasn’t turned up anywhere in the meantime. Anyone with information about Booth’s whereabouts is encouraged to call the Washoe County (Nevada) Missing Persons service.
