Sosia Jiang Wins WPT Big Game Title For $206,110

New Zealander Sosia Jiang scooped the $5200 buy-in WPT Big Game on partypoker last night, lifting a whopping $206,110 top prize ahead of the poker worlds biggest names…

With 202 entries, there was $1,027,215 in the prizepool, and Kristen Bicknell, Jason Koon, Mikita Badziakouski and Ike Haxton were all flying the red diamond – though it would be a different home duo who made the final table.

Throw in the likes of Kahle Burns, Daniel Dvoress, Alex Foxen and Fedor Holz and this was as stacked an online tournament as you’re likely to find.

By the time the Big Game had reached the final table, the remaining 8 players were guaranteed $25k, Scotland’s Ludovic Geilich and England’s Patrick Leonard leading the charge for Team partyoker.

Jiang, however, was in unstoppable form and led from start to finish – with Leonard falling in 3rd spot and the first of the three 6-figure scores.

Heads-up saw Jiang topple Philipp Hofbauer, the Austrian pocketing a $150,024 payday.

That left Jiang to add another notch to her burgeoning poker belt, and though she may not be a household name to many, her poker pedigree is well-established.

Jiang currently sits 2nd on the New Zealand All-time live tournament money-winners list with $1,482,278. She took down the 2017 PokerStars Championship High Roller in Macau for $498,073 and has added four 6-figure scores since.

Jiang explained in an interview with the NZHerald last year: ‘I am not interested in donating money to other poker players’.

Final results

1 Sosia Jiang $206,110
2 Philipp Hofbauer $150,024
3 Patrick Leonard $107,035
4 Ivan Gabrieli $80,122
5 Daniel Marinez $56,496
6 Adam Boyd $43,143
7 Ludovic Geilich $33,384
8 Allan Berger $25,680
