WhatIfGod wins EPT Online Main Event for $1,019,082

The inaugural PokerStars EPT Online festival crowned a Main Event champion last night, Swedish pro WhatIfGod scooping the title and $1,019,082 after defeating Canadian highstakes MTT expert  Tim Tim0thee Adams heads-up…

The flagship event of the 10-day, $20million GTD series had whittled down 1304 entries to a final table of just nine, with Adams, Jonathan 'apestyles' Van Fleet and Russia’s Vyacheslav 'VbV1990' Buldygin among the contenders for the $1million+ prize up top.

It was a day of big hands clashing, with Van Fleet scoring the first KO holding pocket aces against Kazakh player vip25459, and then falling himself in 8th spot (for $97,344) when he came up against Buldygin…

What followed next was torture for the bigger hands, as David Yan first cracked Christoforou’s aces and followed up by ending Bozzano’s run when he flopped a set of queens to overcome pocket kings.

By this time the prizemoney was up to just over $¼million, and that was Buldygin’s payday when he exited in 5th place when his big ace couldn’t catch the 8s of WhatIfGod, and then Adams also picked up the snowmen to despatch Finland’s tikidiii in 4th for $372,485.

Down to three, and we were above the $½million bracket for payouts, and the New Zealander David Yan would fall here, pocketing $520,966 when he was on the other side of the ‘bad beat’ a river ace sending him to the rail.

That left WhatIfGod to take on one of the game’s absolute crushers, Tim Adams, and the heads-up duel didn’t last long, a cooler of epic proportions on the river ending the Canadians hopes of an EPT Online title.
