ACR Launch Mini-Online Super Series with Massive $2.5million Guarantees

A mini-series boasting a whopping $2.5million in guaranteed prizepools is an unusual thing, but thats exactly whats up for grabs in the ACR Mini-Online Super Series (MOSS) with 150 tournaments running from as low as $0.25 buy-ins!

By: Andrew Burnett

The MOSS is one of the most popular of all the US-facing online poker room ACR online festivals and this Sunday sees it open with the aptly-named ‘KickOff’, a $125k GTD 8-max NLHE tournament with a $16.50 buy-in.

That’s just the first of 150 events running from Sunday 22nd November through to Monday December 7th – that last date hosting the final table of the second Main Event of the series.

Double Main Event Madness

It’s runner-runner double Sunday ME’s for the MOSS faithful, two separate Main Events each with a $250,000 guarantee.

That’s where the resemblance ends, though, as the first is for PKO enthusiasts – the Progressive KnockOut format a relatively new favourite among players.

Here are the details for the flagship MOSS biggies and how exactly a PKO works for those new to the format…

  • MOSS $250k GTD PKO Main Event #1 – Day 2 on Sunday, November 29th at 8pm ET. Final Table on Monday, November 30th at 8pm ET.
  • MOSS $250k GTD Main Event #2 – Day 2 on Sunday, December 6th at 8pm ET. Final Table on Monday, December 7th at 8pm ET.

Both Main Events will have multiple starting flights at a $55 buy-in, but you can satellite your way in of course, with full details on the schedule here.

How Progressive Knockout Tournaments Work

Say you enter a $20 Progressive Knockout Tournament (PKO). Half of that buy-in, $10, goes into a Regular prizepool. The other $10 goes towards the Bounty payments – each player starting with that sum on their head.

Knock someone out and you win $5 of that bounty, while the other $5 is now added to your head. That means you’re a wanted player, a $15 Bounty on your head.

If someone takes you out, they win an immediate $7.50 and the other $7.50 gets added to their head.

And so it goes on, all the way to the deep stages of the tournament where Bounty payments can sometimes amount to more than the regular prizemoney!

Of course, with such an incredible array of buy-ins, formats and variants on the menu, it’s about much more than just the two massive MEs.

Turbo, Bounty, 6- and 8-max, PLO, PKO, 7-Card Stud HiLo, Super Stack, MegaStack, PLO8 and buy-ins from $0.25 up to $88, it offers something for everyone – and there’s more…

$25,000 GTD Fight Club

As the ACR crew point out, ‘the first rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about Fight Club’, but that rather defeats the purpose here so we’ll tell you about it anyway!

It’s a last-person-standing brawl, with $25,000 GTD and 20 different flights, with a $9.90 buy-in - $6 going to the bounty prizepool and $3 feeding the regular prizepool.

You start with 50k in chips and you have to survive nineteen 7-minute levels to make day 2, joining the other survivors from each flight on the Saturday to play down to a final table that takes play on the Sunday afternoon.

By then you’ll likely have already bagged a huge number of healthy Bonus payments!

You can check out details of all the ACR MOSS events here, with a quick tl;dr below…

  • $2.5 million in guaranteed prize pools
  • 150 tournaments from November 22nd to December 6th
  • Two $250,000 GTD Main Events – each multi-day
