The loser at the halfway point can decide to continue or cut their losses and run, and the betting moneđy says that will be Negreanu unless he can turn things around.

The Canadian GGPoker ambassador seemed to be in a good mood despite the downturn in the match, rueing Polk’s ability to dodge bullets…

The match has been swinging between big all-in battles and smaller sessions where Polk appears to have the edge in getting paid off a bit too regularly, and yesterday’s session was more of the latter.

Daniel was down roughly one buy-in for much of the 2-hour session, but that grew much bigger as frustration seemed to set in, a $40k pot river bluff overbet picked off by the Upswing Poker guru…

Online multi-tabling legend Randy 'nanonoko' Lew was in the GG commentary booth yesterday and told viewers: “In heads-up, the big pots usually play themselves, it’s about the small pots that determines who is the winner.”

He explained further: “If you’re not getting thin value, if you’re not winning small pots by bluffing…you generally will lose unless variance is on your side.”

So far that variance has been against Daniel, his all-in EV accounting for around half of his $260k deficit.

Afterwards Negreanu tweeted out: “I don’t know how I only lost 3 buy ins in today’s session but I’m thankful for it! Happy Thanksgiving y’all. Will be back at it again Saturday at 2:30pm PST.”
