HolySmokes wins First Scrimmage of 2021 on Global Poker

It’s a New Year and it started with a bang on Global Poker as both of their Sunday Majors smashed their guarantees, with New Jersey player ‘HolySmokes’ scooping the Scrimmage for a five-figure start to 2021!

The flagship Sunday major on the US-facing site attracted 332 entries, which meant an additional SC16,400 over the SC50k guarantee, with 45 players in the money come end of play.

The final table of nine saw nine separate states represented, Colorado’s ‘Jacifer’ falling at the first hurdle but pocketing a healthy SC1,135 for the deep run.

Arizona’s ‘Mogietops’ fell in 7th when their ace was out-kicked, and later the 4th spot came down to a cruel cooler...



Georgia player ‘ChipJunkie305’ couldn’t improve on that though, exiting in 3rd for SC6,972 and leaving Pennsylvania’s ‘Sizzz’ to face near-neighbour ‘HolySmokes’ from New Jersey to decide the fate of the first Scrimmage title of a new year.

Kickers were the name of the game yet again as ‘HolySmokes’ landed the SC12,708 top prize, the runner-up with a well-deserved SC9,462, all that unique GP currency able to be withdrawn as real money of course.

Earlier in the day, 310 entries arrived for the Sunday Teaser, a SC25k GTD NLHE tournament that hit a final prizepool of SC31,000 – with 54 players looking at a cash.

It proved to be a California 1-2-3-4 as the Golden State players swept the final table for more than SC18k between them.

The heads-up battle saw ‘Michaelgreer22’ overcome ‘UrNoJedi’ to lift the Teaser title and SC5,933 for an excellent day at the tables.
