Doug Polk ended his five-session losing streak against Daniel Negreanu in their Grudge Match showdown, bagging a $119,000 win to extend his lead back over $600,000…

The duelling legends played session 27 of their match, a $200/$400 Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em battle that started with 200 hands played live on day 1 in Vegas, and since then online at WSOP.com.

At one point close to $1million ahead, Polk had since been pulled back to half of that amount as Negrenau launched a comeback, with just under 10k of the 25k hand fight still to go.

The pair traded half-stacks at the start of session 27, with first blood going to Polk when he shoved the river simultaneously on both tables – Negreanu eventually folding to both.

Things then got worse for the GGPoker ambassador as his Upswing Poker foe snapped off the Canadian’s five-bet pre-flop shove, producing the goods and the board bricking to hand Polk the $92k pot…

Polk: A♦ A♠
Negreanu: Q♠ Q♦

Flop: 2♣ 3♠ 5♠
Turn: 10♥
River: 10♣

Now down about $170k for the day, Negreanu launched a mini-comeback, starting with those ladies working out a bit better as the money went in on the flop…

Polk: J♣ K♥
Negreanu: Q♣ Q♦

Flop: J♥ 4♥ 7♣
Turn: 10♦
River: 9♥

…and that was $99k heading across the table to DNegs…

Soon enough Negreanu had pulled back another stack when Polk called the river with top pair only to find Negreanu had flopped top two, and then another $50k pot that saw Dnegs with AK against AJ on a K 8 J flop.

The match then turned once again, Polk landing a huge pot when he turned the straight…

Polk: Q♦ A♣
Negreanu: ??

Flop: Jd K♣ K♠
Turn: 10♠
River: 2♣

…with DNegs calling off the overshove on the river, mucking as the $88k pot went to his opponent.

The 600-session was one of the swingiest yet, with Polk coming out ahead by more than $119k, relieved to have “stopped the bleeding”

…while Negreanu bemoaned Polk’s rungood, stating on his post-game interview on GGPoker: “He made so many fucking hands. He made so many fucking flushes, he’s really good at that!”

The players are set to continue with session 28 this Friday, January 15th at 2:30 pm PT.
