Doug Polk takes $26k from Daniel Negreanu in Grudge Match

Doug Polk took another $26,000 from Daniel Negreanu in session 27 of their Grudge Match, a swingy days play that Polk described as Basically this session was Daniel betting the river and me calling.

Their 25k-hand battle is well past the halfway point and the $200/$400 HUNL showdown has so far seen Polk take more than $600,000 from his long-time foe.

Having halted Negreanu’s recent 5-session winning streak with a $119k win on Wednesday, the Upswing Poker boss got off to a flyer yesterday, picking off DNegs’ river bluff for an $82k pot to get things going…

Polk: A♠ 10♠
Negreanu: Q♦ A♥

Flop: 10♦ 6♣ K♠
Turn: 2♠
River: K♥

That early pot was soon reversed as Polk walked into a cooler, although his river tank to Negreanu’s shove clearly showed he was a bit suspicious, and rightly so as the GGPoker ambassador produced the goods to scoop a $95k pot…

Polk: K♥ 7♥
Negreanu: 4♣ 4♠

Flop: K♣ 4♦ 9♣
Turn: K♠
River: 5♥

And so the day progressed, Negreanu switching between made hands and bluffs in the biggest pots and Polk seemingly happy to call most of them down, as he tweeted afterwards…

The Grudge Match will resume on Monday and the big question is whether DNegs can halt the Polk train from building up too much steam. We’ll be bringing you the best of the action, so remember to check in!
