Daniel Negreanu Crushes Doug Polk with $390k Grudge Match Rebound

Daniel Negreanu took down the biggest win of the highstakes Grudge Match to date yesterday, smashing his way back into contention with a $390,000 session win against Doug Polk…

Polk had crossed the magical $1million profit barrier on Wednesday with a huge win that had left Negreanu stunned, the GGPoker ambassador later admitting he “was pretty dead without a huge win today”, session 31 a make-or-break day for DNegs.

Playing their standard two tables of $200/$400HUNL on WSOP.com, the duelling pair got off to a super-quick start, swapping stacks very early on, the first one this ‘lucky’ river that saw DNegs get paid off on his shove.

That $40k was almost immediately handed back in a flush-over-flush all-in showdown on table one, and the day was off to a cracking start.

If Negreanu had been unlucky and outplayed this week, the combination costing him close to $500k, then yesterday was a complete reversal.

Not only was he getting paid off on his big hands, but the variance factor was on his side too, and whenever Polk had a good hand, KidPoker seemed to have an even better one, as in this $116k pot…

Three-and-a half hours into the session and Daniel was sitting with close to $500k at the tables, and although Polk managed to recoup some of his losses before they called it a day at just over 1000 hands, it was the biggest win for either man during the Grudge Match

Negreanu was naturally buoyant afterwards, but Polk was already looking forward to the end of the match, telling his Upswing Poker fans: “Very much looking forward to not having to play anymore poker…Ready to call it a sesh and move on.”
