It’s important to take time out to relax and recharge your batteries from time to time. Make Sure that you do your best to at least begin all of your playing sessions feeling fresh and ready for action.

Here are five ways that poker players use to take their mind away from the game so they can rest.

#1 Yoga/Tai Chi

If you’re looking for something to help your nervous system wind down then you can’t do much better than yoga of tai chi. These practices are many thousands of years old and are still used today by billions of people around the world to help them relax.

The premise behind these practices is to progressively relax the body to deeper and deeper levels by releasing tension in both the mind and muscles. There is no better way to take you mind off anything that is currently bothering you.

#2 Weight Lifting

Going to the gym is a great way to burn away any stress that is bothering you. But weight lifting specifically is a fantastic method of getting rid of any tension.

It isn’t exactly a restful activity, but when you’ve had a shower and are settled for the evening you can feel like you’re floating on a cloud in an ultra-relaxed state of being.

#3 Online Casino

Poker can be incredibly stressful. The intense thinking that is almost constant throughout any session can wear a player down quickly.

Maybe you’re stressed and want to take your mind away from poker for a while but don’t want to wind down too much, then why not have a blast on an online casino. Just about every poker player on the planet loves a flutter, be it on sports or traditional tabling gaming such as blackjack or roulette. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two.

#4 Meditation

Meditation used to be seen as a bit new age for a lot of people, but slowly over the last decade or two it has become one of the most popular stressbusters out there.

It is incredibly effective at dissolving mental tension and practicing for only a few minutes every day will produce a noticeable difference in your mental state. Meditation is also a great way to prepare for your playing sessions.

#5 Walking

Is there anything that is as relaxing as going for a walk? Almost without any effort you can allow the stress of the day to dissolve into the ether. Simply stepping outside and getting 15 minutes exercise will work wonders for your ability to relax and feel rested.

Just as with meditation, walking is a fantastic way to prepare for your sessions. That feeling of extra mental space will improve your results dramatically.
