August Summary Part 1

Here at highstakesdb we will, at the beginning of each month, try to present some statistics from the previous month in an effort to give our readers an opportunity to see some of the nuggets that are hidden in our database.

I will not comment too much in the statistics we provide here, but they might be good for some discussions in the forum. And if there are any of our readers who has any requests for any statistics they would like to see, just make a post in the forum, and I will see if I can include them in the next report on this topic.

The first piece of statistics you will see is the top winners and losers in August. I have only included the players who have won or lost a six figure amount, but with the stakes the top players are playing, most will end up on the list in a normal month. We have 123129 hands in the database in August. 55592 from PLO hands and 67537 in Hold’em.

The list hardly needs any comments except from the obvious that Gus Hansen did not have a very nice August at the poker tables. Phil Ivey was not running as well as he was during the WSOP either and Martonas might possibly have lost less than most of you were thinking. Obviously, his result is not good, but since he was running so hot to begin with only to go ice cold later has probably exaggerated the impression that people has had of his results.

I have made two tables for the largest pots of the period. The first one is sorted by amount, while the latter is sorted by the number of Big Blinds that went into the pot. As you can see, the majority of hands on this last list are from the ‘lower’ stakes which only goes to show that there is some interesting poker going on there as well.

I will come back with one or more two summary reports very soon, but as mentioned before, is you have some special statistics you would like to see, post the suggestions on the forum topic connected to this report.
