WPT Jacksonville Fall Poker down to 6 players

The chipleader Noah Schwartz
Lee Markholt - Player with the most WPT cashes

The $3.500 tournament started November 9th and is now down to the final 6 players. The tournament had two starting days with a chance to re-enter once on each starting day. That means that every player could enter the tournament up to 4 times. After the two starting days it stood clear that the tournament got 477 entries and competing for a prize pool of $1.526.400.

One player with a plan to re-enter day 1B was Phil Hellmuth, but according to his tweets he overslept after a long and hard session of Open Face Chinese Poker.

Lately it has become more common that tournaments include re-entries. Re-entry tournaments have reignited the discussion around the problem around the rebuy system, but not quite as much as the heated discussions a few years back where many of the live tournaments had endless numbers of rebuys. In 2006 we saw Daniel Negreanu make 48 rebuys in a $1,000 WSOP tournament. The year after Layne Flack spent $33,000 in the WSOP $1500 Pot-limit Omaha rebuy - a tournament he went on to win for a $577,725 first prize.

The main criticism after these happenings was that it basically allows players to buy themselves a bracelet. The same reasoning is made today about the danger of allowing too many rebuys/re-entries.

The six players that will come back to the final table today is:

1 Lee Markholt 1,720,000
2 Byron Kaverman 1,075,000
3 Ryan Hartmann 1,400,000
4 Hans Winzeler 1,965,000
5 Brian Senie 1,865,000
6 Noah Schwartz 6,255,000

Final table payouts:

1 $402,970
2 $236,592
3 $153,403
4 $106,848
5 $77,083
6 $61,819

Three of the players have reached WPT final tables before. Noah Schwartz is now entering his 4th WPT final table. Lee Markholt will play his 3rd final table today and Byron Kaverman entering his 2nd WPT final table. Also notable, this is Lee Markholt's 23rd cash and with that he is the player with most cashes in WPT history.

The final table will be played tonight at 20.00 (CET).

We'll be back tomorrow with the final results.
