Gus Hansen's Rough Return to Full Tilt - Struggles to Find His Form
Its been a rough ride for Gus Hansen since his return to online poker back in July
Pre Black Friday Gus Hansen's online poker form had been epic. After a nightmare-ish 2009 and first half of 2010 Gus had been on a +$6 million upswing during the last few months of 2010 and the first few months of 2011. The Full Tilt blackout halted that run in its tracks however and Gus took some time away from the virtual felt, threw himself into Racketlon and aside from a couple of tournament cashes (albeit significant ones with an $800k win at the Aussie Millions super high roller and winning a $1 million seat to One Drop at this years WSOP) and a few trips to Macau for a little ultra high stakes cash game action led a fairly poker free existence.
Gus reappeared over the summer over at PokerStars under his Stars account "broksi", playing Omaha, FLO8 and 2-7 Triple Draw but over the course of 56k hands he found himself nearly $1.1 million in the hole. We daresay Gus would have hoped to have sharpened up his rusty online skills before the launch of Full Tilt, where he was the first named "Professional". However, things have not gone to plan as Gus is by far the biggest loser so far since their relaunch last week - a $323k loss yesterday putting him at -$711k since last Tuesday.
Yesterday Gus was once more handed a beating at the 2-7 Triple Draw tables, first losing around $240k to the days biggest winner Seb86 before taking on his nemesis from last week O Fortuna PLS where he lost another c.$90k.
At this stage of a highly volatile career we're sure a $1.8 million downswing isn't going to trouble Hansen as much as it might some, nevertheless he'll be looking to make amends soon enough. Whether he'll continue taking on the sharks at 2-7, try to get some CAP PLO going or have some more success at the FLO8 hunting grounds which have been so fruitful for him in the past we'll have to wait and see.
Other than the big limit action it was a pretty small fry day at the highstakes online tables of PokerStars and Full Tilt with the big $200/$400 PLO games taking a break yesterday. The next biggest winners came from 26071985 (the days 3rd biggest winner with an $86.2k score) at the $50/$100 NLHE tables and calvin7v winning $80k at the $400/$800 2-7 TD tables - both over at PokerStars.
There were however a couple of pretty big hands, courtesy of a 45 minute session of $300/$600 NLHE between Alex "IReadYrSoul" Millar and patpatpanda. A session which Millar walked away a $66k winner. The pair each won a pot over $150k;
All in pre-flop, Millar's KK holds against patpatpanda's AQ - $152.3k pot
patpatpanda will be pleased to get Quads paid off in this $151.2k pot
Today has seen some decent $200/$400 PLO action over at PokerStars with Ilari FIN, refaelamit, Jeans89, patpatman, Sauce123 and Barcode all duking it out for big sums of money with several +$200k hands being played out. More of this tomorrow.
