Mid Month Recap - Gus Hansen & cottonseed1 Enjoying Million Dollar Mays

After a terrible start to 2013 Gus Hansen is making amends after a great seven figure win on 14th May

As we enter the second half of May, let's take a quick look back at the last two, action packed weeks of highstakes online action.

Once again we have seen a lot of $500/$1000 CAP PLO action, and the first day of the month was no exception, as Isildur1 and Bttech86 carried on their epic series of heads-up matches. In some sessions which ended up running through the night Isildur1 did well to fight back from an $850k deficit to end just $200k down. In the meantime Isildur1 had fired up some $200/$400 PLO ring games, where he won over $400k, taking most of his profit from Sauce1234.

Sauce didn't have long to wait to get his revenge on Isildur1 as on 2nd May he took him for $367k playing heads-up $250/$500 PLO.

The next day brought plenty more highstakes action at Full Tilt, with Nicklas "ragen70" Heinecker ending as the day's biggest winner with a $275k win at NLHE, mostly taken from some $150/$300 heads-up sessions with Denoking. The biggest action of the day however occurred at the $100/$200 PLO tables where Tom "durrrr" Dwan took on fellow Full Tilt Pro, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom is some crazy heads-up action. The pair were playing compulsory 3x 9x pre-flop raises, which resulted in a glut of six figure pots. durrrr had much the better of the action, taking $400k from his stablemate. durrrr ended the day a $181k winner, after earlier losses at NLHE to Ike "luvtheWNBA" Haxton.

On the 4th, Ben "Bttech86" Tollerene took another $400k from Isildur1 after relatively short 3 hour session, and Phil "Polarizing" Ivey enjoyed a +$280k day after winning $240k from KPR16 at $2k/$4k FLO8.

The next three days saw Isildur1 more than make up for his terrible start to the month as he won over $2.1m from 5th-7th Mayy. On the 5th he took his $880k from Bttech86 in a one sided $500/$1000 CAP PLO match, and the following day he enjoyed a $315k $300/$600 PLO victory against Sauce1234 before winning $265k from Bttech86. This win was particularly hard fought as Isildur1 had to fight back from a $600k initial loss to Tollerene. The match against Tollerene actually went over into the 7th May, and by the end of the day Isildur1 had racked up $1m in winnings after beating SanIker for $315k at $500/$1000 CAP NLHE and taking over $300k from a 2-7 TD ring game, playing the likes of Alexonmoon, Polarizing and Kagome Kagome.

After such a great run Isildur1 was hoping once more to put a beating on Ben "Sauce1234" Sulsky when they met on the 8th at the $300/$600 PLO tables. It looked it would go that way for a while as Isildur1 rushed to a $300k lead. Things were about to go badly wrong for the young Swede however, as Sauce fought back hard to take the lead, prompting a move to the $400/$800 deep with antes tables.

We then witnessed some huge swings of fortune as Sauce rushed to nearly a $1.2m lead, only to be pegged right back to even by Isildur1 around 3/4 of the way through the match. After coming so close Blom seemed to tilt hard after losing some key pots to put him back down several hundred thousand and ended up losing $1.37m - despite actually running around $600k above EV in the final stretch of the match.

The 9th May once again saw durrrr hit the headlines as he won $527k playing in the $500/$1000 CAP games. He took $370k in some rare $500/$1000 CAP PLO ring games, as well as taking $170k from Trueteller heads-up at $500/$1000 CAP NLHE. At this point, durrrr was up over $1m for May. Bttech86 also had a good day with a $482k win against Isildur1 and cottonseed1's winnings ofr May crossed the $600k mark with a $300k win playing Gus Hansen heads-up at $2k/$4k FLO8.

The next couple of days saw yet another huge rush from Isildur1 as he won $1.64m, the majority from more $500/$1000 CAP PLO ring games, featuring the likes of Bttech86, OMGClayAiken, durrrr, trex313, and samrostan.

Isildur1 couldn't sustain his winning streak however, as the following day he was the day's biggest loser, dropping $366k, mostly to the day's biggest winner, Kagome Kagome, who won $264.5k playing 2-7 TD.

The 13th May was the only day of the month so far in which a PokerStars player topped the daily leader board, as EDWARDHOPPER made a $152.6k score in the $100/$200 PLO ring games, playing against Sauce123, HC_68, Odd_Oddsen, cantbeat, GVOZDIKA55 and verve.oasis.

The final day of the first two weeks of May was an epic one for Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen, who had managed to put a few winning performances together over the previous couple of days. These modest wins paled into comparison with his huge $1.57m win on the 14th. Gus demolished allcomers at the FLO8 tables, taking big sums from PostFlopAction, Isildur1, KPR16 and OMGClayAiken in a huge 19 hour session. Earlier in the day he had also won close to $200k at the triple draw tables. The only other winner in the FLO8 games was the ever consistent cottonseed1, who added a further $300k to his bankroll.

Biggest Winners First Two Weeks Of May

Gus Hansen +$1.304m

cottonseed1 +$1.197m

Sauce1234 +$805.2k

Isildur1 +$509.9k
