Sofia Lovgren bids farewell to Team PKR

Where next for the Swedish star?

After four years spent as a team member and brand ambassador for PKR, 23 year old Swedish professional poker pro Sofia Lovgren has decided to call time on the partnership, declaring that she would be moving on to her “next big adventure” in the coming weeks.

According to a post made Monday afternoon on the site’s forum,  Lovgren had been “offered an opportunity that anyone would find hard to decline”, prompting suspicions that her departure may soon manifest into her becoming a new edition to the team at one of industry giant Rational Group’s sites – PokerStars or Full Tilt.

A blossoming career playing online – that began at the age of just 16 - prompted Lovgren’s nomination, along with her current boyfriend Luca Moschitta, for the 2013 PokerListings award for Europe’s most promising “young gun”.

She has also netted almost $130,000 wearing the patch for PKR on the live tournament circuit since her signing in 2010, the highlights of which include a deep run at the 2010 Irish Open and four cashes in the WSOP.

In her own farewell bid to PKR, Lovgren stated that the site had “been like a second family” and that it had “been an absolute pleasure to work with so many genuine and nice people.”

It wasn’t all doom and gloom for PKR however; as they also announced that they would be signing Eleanor ‘Elz442’ Gudger as an immediate replacement. Gudger final tabled last year’s Ladies Event at the WSOP and is currently the in the PKR Hall of Fame with over $200,000 in MTT cashes – making her the site’s most successful female player ever.
