Haralabos Voulgaris: "Asian Businessmen Had a Dispute With Guy Laliberté"

The Big One For One Drop field was less than expected this year as "only" 42 players decided to participate. According to Haralabos Voulgaris, some of the Asian businessmen pulled out because they had a dispute with One Drop founder Guy Laliberté.

Voulgaris told in a recent interview, that he played the event two years ago but didn't play this year, as the field was a lot tougher now. He instead bought some pieces from other players.

He also revealed some insider information on why some of the Asian businessmen (Chun "samrostan" Lei Zhou, Richard Yong and Paul "MalACEsia" Phua) pulled out at the last minute:

"A lot of the Asian businessmen did not play, because they had some dispute with Guy Laliberté about a private game that happened. It was not resolved in their favor, so they all pulled out.", Voulgaris said.

We can only guess what the dispute was about. However, even if the missing Asian businessmen would have participated, the 56 player cap would have not been reached.

Voulgaris doesn't predict a bright future for the massive tournament, as he thinks it would be "a bit silly to think" that the $1 million buy-in tournament would continue.
