Guy Laliberte Builds Golden UFO Landing Spot, Confirmed as “Esvedra” on FTP?

Excited: Guy the astronaut

Canadian billionaire, space tourist and founder of the $1m Big One for One Drop charity tournament Guy Laliberte has made national news in Spain for building what’s been labelled a “luxury UFO landing spot” by neighbours of his Ibiza home.

The monument is made up of over a dozen 23 carat gold covered monoliths that reach up to 20 metres in height, and Laliberte received a record breaking fine for building it without planning permission.

Attention from mainstream Spanish media over the size of the fine highlighted the fact that Laliberte’s home overlooks the Es Vedra beach, which in turn almost certainly brings an end to any doubt that Guy Laliberte is in fact “Esvedra” on Full Tilt Poker.

“Esvedra” is currently down $2.7m on our database, and stopped playing in 2011 following the events of Black Friday.

In keeping with the rumour, Laliberte has claimed that he was cheated out of millions in the days leading up to Black Friday, and that he doesn’t like to play online anymore.

As reported on PokerFuse, PokerStars has invited New Jersey based online poker players to attend two “open house” discussion sessions in the local area.

Parent company Rational Group stated that “two members of PokerStars management” would be hosting “casual discussions” for players to give “feedback on any topics or concerns” that they may have.

The first session took place on Monday, September 8th and the second will take place on Wednesday, September 10th.

Ex-PokerStars grinders in New Jersey reportedly received their invitation emails a week previously, and players spanning all VIP levels were included.

PokerStars is currently holding talks with the state’s regulators, and this public move signifies that their big US launch could arrive before the end of the year.
