Rumour: Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom signed by Unibet

Blom signing may be unveiled at the Unibet Open in London next week

Having seen his long-standing sponsorship deal with Full Tilt Poker terminated recently – he was previously one of “The Professionals” along with Gus Hansen and Tom Dwan, who have also been cut – Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom may have found a new home in Unibet.

There have been no official announcements as of yet, but the normally social media shy Swede tweeted over the weekend that he would be playing in both the Unibet cash game and Unibet Open events in London at the end of November:

“In Macau right now, but planning to play the @unibet cash game before @unibetopen at Aspers in London end of November. Looks fun!”

Unibet itself also included Blom in an official tweet, advertising the big name attendees of its upcoming high stakes cash game at the Unibet Open:

“Poker greats @ViktorBlom @CrocMonsieur and @SenseiChanning will play in our golden cash game at @Unibet Open London!”

Originally a Swedish based company, it makes a great deal of sense that Unibet would go after Blom, who despite Martin Jacobsen’s recent induction as world champion of poker, is still arguably the nation’s biggest name in the game.

Bringing in Blom would also give Unibet an edge pushing through its recent re-brand – the site went onto its own independent network earlier this year, and has been noticeably active with big promotions and televised advertising campaigns.

The Unibet Open is set to take stage in the British capital starting Thursday, November 27th, and we aren’t anticipating to be hearing anything official until then.

We’ll bring you more on this as and when the rumours can be confirmed or denied.
