Petter Northug Jr Mixes it up With Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky

Petter Northug played for two hours yesterday against one of the world's best PLO players Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky

Norwegian skiing legend Petter "NorthugJr" Northug has been known to dabble in a bit of highstakes poker, having played a fair bit of heads-up PLO at both PokerStars and Full Tilt, and he was back yesterday where he took on the best of the best.

Even some of the top 10 PLO players in the world shy away from taking on Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky heads-up, but not so Northug, who played hundreds of hands against Sulsky yesterday afternoon in a two hour session at PokerStars $50/$100 tables

You don't win 13 World Championships and 2 Olympic gold medals without being willing to take some risks so kudos to NorthugJr for putting his money where he mouth is.

However, as you might expect, taking on one of the greatest heads-up PLO players of all time was a somewhat foolhardy move, and NorthugJr ended up on the losing end of the confrontation. The pair actually played together at 4 tables, although they only played heads-up at two, with most of the action taking place at table Wurm where Sauce123 won $35k from Northug in a 432 hand, 2 hour encounter.

The pair's second match took place around half an hour later. This was a much shorter affair, only lasting five minutes, resulting in a $22.9k win for Sauce123.

In the end it wasn't the most successful day for the winter sports specialist, who in the past has put together a $130,000 win at PokerStars $50/$100 PLO tables
