Brian Hastings Collects $1/2m after Bracelet Bets

Stinger is well on course to pick up some serious side-bet money after a great first half of this year's WSOP

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, highstakes cash game legend Brian "$tinger 88" Hastings made it known that his confidence in his game was so high that he was happily taking bets on himself vs anyone head to head using the $25k fantasy format at even money. In total Hastings had bet "mid six-figures" on himself. With good results thus far, stinger looks set to make some big bucks by the end of the series, and has actually already done so after landing a WSOP bracelet to scoop some some additional bracelet bets.

After winning Event #17 $10,000 Seven Card Stud for $239,518 a few days ago, Hastings said that with the bracelet bets (on which he got odds of 3.3-1) he had at least doubled his money there.

On his twitter page, Hastings has paid tribute to 2+2 publishing owner Mason Malmuth and 2+2 author, and 3 time WSOP bracelet winner David Sklansky, presumably for the help their book Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players gave him as he struggled to get to grips with his stud gane:

As well as his win in the Stud tourney, Hastings also final tabled the $3k Limit Hold'em 6 handed event, and finished 29th out of 422 starters in Event #2, the $5k NLHE tourney. He also min-cashed in Event #2, a 1500 NLHE event. With a strong all-round showing it seems inevitable that Hastings will walk away ahead overall in the head-to-head bets also; but the question is, by how much?
