More $200/$400 NL Action - Wilhasha Wins $99,432
There was more $200/$400 NLHE action at Pokerstars yesterday, even without Bill "GASTRADER" Perkins making an appearance. The biggest winner from the games was Swedish NL specialist, wilhasha, who netted $99,432.
It may have been a rare appearance at the high stakes cash game tables by Italian tournament specialist Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit which drove the $200/$400 action, and indeed he did appear somwhat out of his depth during his first three hours at the tables yesterday afternoon as he slumped to -$145k. However, to Kanit's credit as the afternoon wore on he fought back valliantly, at one point winning back $100k from his lowest point. By the end of his 7.5 hours at the tables Kanit had lost $75.2k. Kanit's comeback including him winning his biggest ever online pot:
Great flop for lasagnaaammm as he makes top set. An ace on the turn is disasterous for 1nvoker who makes top pair and ends up calling his opponent down on the river - $101.5k pot
At first it looked like the big winner for the day was going to be UK pro Luke "Bit2Easy" Reeves who was up $120k from the $200/$400 games after the first hour and a half of play. However, it all went wrong for Reeves from mid-afternoon onwards and he went on a catastrophic $200k downswing, finally ended up the day's biggest loser after dropping $87.5k from 749 hands played.
wilhasha put in four hours at the $200/$400 tables from around midday where he accumulated just over $57k in winnings. The remainder of his near six-figure score came from some heads-up play at the $50/$100 tables during some morning sessions.
Second on yesterday's highstakes leaderboard was Russian pro Katya_18 who earned back much of the $111k the player lost on Wednesday. Katya_18 ended the day up $84.3k, with all but a couple of thousand coming from the $200/$400 games.
In third place was Danish pro Jacob "Lottenice" Rasmussen who made $49.6k from his afternoon session at the $200/$400 NL tables. Lottenice was actually heading for a loss yesterday until he pulled the day's biggest pot out of the bag:
Lottenice ends up winning this $138.4k pot with just a pair of tens after he gets it all in with Bit2Easy with top pair and an open-ended straight draw. Bit2Easy has the same open-ender but only has middle pair to go with it. The river blanks and the six-figure pot goes to Lottenice
Completing the top four winners yesterday was PLO specialist BERRI SWEET who enjoyed yet another heads-up win at the $100/$200 tables over Dani "supernova9" Stern. The pair played for five hours in what was, for the most part, a very even match. With four hours and twenty minutes gone, Stern actually held a slight lead. However, BERRI SWEET hit a $50k upswing during the final 40 minutes of the match to end up with a $33.2k profit.
