Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn Wins $92,504 in Wednesdays High Stakes Games

A brief session at the $1k/$2k 8-Game tables helped Russian pro Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn to a $92,503 profit at PokerStars yesterday.

Prior to the minute 6max session at the $1k/$2k tables, Kostritsyn had already been making headway after close to three hours play split between the $100/$200, $200/$400, and $400/$800 8-Game tables, showing a profit of $17,000 prior to moving up to the highest stakes available.

The session at the higher limit was driven by the appearance of high stakes 'fish' bodamos, who was quickly joined by joiso, Brian "aba20" Townsend, RaulGonzales, Alex "BiatchPeople" Luneau, and Mikael "ChaoRen160" Thuritz.

Although Townsend won $9.8k and Luneau won a little over $7k at the table (after having lost coinsderably more at the lower stakes), it was only really joiso who took advantage of the line up as he piled on $75,570 in winnings at the table. He also took down the day's biggest pot while doing so:

With RaulGonzales already all in after four players took a flop in this $250/$500 PLO round, joiso plays to his $20k CAP on the flop and is called by bodamos. The pair are more or less flipping with joiso holding a pair of nines with a flush draw while bodamos has top two pairs and a gutshot straight draw. The flush completes on the turn and joiso scoops this $51.1k pot

Second on yesterday's highstakes leaderboard at PokerStars was NLHE specialist, wilhasha, who ended the day up $52,432 after games at the $50/$100 and $100/$200 tables.

Most of his profit came from playing UK pro Dan "DANMERRRRRRR" Merilees heads-up at the $50/$100 tables. The pair played yesterday evening for close to two hours at two tables with wilhasha winning at both for a combined profit of $37k. The rest of his winnings came from some earlier evening outings at the $100/$200 tables where he played short-handed against OBORRA, Phil "takechip" Auteuil, and ChaoRen160.

In third spot we find underO, who won $26.6k from a 3/4hr heads-up session at the $100/$200 NLHE tables against Fiilismies, and in fourth was Brian "aba20" Townsend who ended the day up $21.7k after numerous short 8-Game session from $100/$200 up to $1k/$2k.
