WCOOP 2017: Near Miss for Viktor "Isildur1" Blom in $25K NLHE 8-max High Roller

After winning his first WCOOP title earlier, it looked like Viktor "Isildur1" Blom would go on to win also the 2017 WCOOP's $25,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em 8-max High Roller Event that finished yesterday.

Blom started the final table second in chips and had a good start by eliminating Linus "LLinusLLove" Loeliger in 7th place ($165,087), when his pocket sevens held against Loeliger's A-K offsuit. Blom then continued his good run and eliminated Danish high-stakes pro Henrik "hhecklen" Hecklen in 6th place when Hecklen was all-in with  for his last chips (around 14 BB) against Blom, who held . The board didn't improve Hecklen's hand and he was eliminated in 6th place for $213,253.

However, after Patrick "pads1116" Leonard (5th, $275,473) was eliminated by Nick "caecilius" Petrangelo, Blom's good run came to an end when he pushed all in for 772,345 (about 22 bigs) against Bryn "BrynKenney" Kenney, who made a fast call from the big blind.

Blom had , but Kenney had picked up pocket aces. It was a situation that even Blom couldn't overcome and he was eliminated in 4th place good for $355,846.

After Blom's departure, the final three players made a deal that secured huge paydays for all. In the end, Nick "caecilius" Petrangelo took down the WCOOP $25K High Roller title and earned a massive $624K-plus payday. See the final results from below.
