Global Poker's Eagle Cup Smashing Guaranteed Prize Pools

Global Poker, the world's fastest growing online poker site, and the only site legally offering games for cash prizes throughout the United States, has been enjoying huge participation at the Eagle Cup, the first leg of the Global Poker Championships - with many of the tournament prizepools doubling their guaranteed prize pools.

Tournaments at Global Poker, which launched in February, have previously been known for huge overlays in guaranteed events, but as word continues to spread about the great opportunity for US citizens to legally play online poker for real cash prizes, those overlays are being replaced with huge prizepools as fields in every event of the $1.25m Guaranteed Eagle Cup series of tournaments are exceeding their guarantees by a considerable margin.

Even the new tournament types are obliterating their guarantees, an example being GP's first ever 'Big Ante' tournament, a game in which the blinds remain constant but the ante increases. The first Big Ante tourney had a guaranteed prizepool of $weepscash (SC) $1000 which ended up almost trebled at SC$2,980!

The biggest prizepool so far from the Eagle Cup took place this past Sunday as the SC$15,000 event's pool almost hit the SC$20,000 mark, and was won by 'LOVE 209' of California. As well as his prize money  'LOVE 209' also received a ‘Champions Pack’ comprising a Global Poker T-Shirt, a Global Poker Cap and a personalised trophy inscribed with his name and the event he won, just like every winner of an Eagle Cup event.. In fact, two players have already won two packs as both 'Kaos4715' from Florida and 'Mirsad222' from Illinois have taken down two events each as we near the halfway mark of the Eagle Cup.

As the Eagle Cup progresses, regular players are starting to take notice of the prize leaderboard which has $15,000 worth of added value. At the moment, all players are chasing 'hRivs34' from Alabama who has won one tournament and enjoyed plenty of other deep runs to put himself 100 points clear of the chasing pack. With almost 80 tournaments left, however, the race is far from over. Check our previous Eagle Cup article here to check the full list of remaining events
