President of India to honour poker pro Muskan Sethi

The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, is set to honor professional poker pro Muskan Sethi, along with 99 other women achievers from across the country next month.

The award will be handed out to women "who have been the first to make a career in male-dominated professions."

The list has a mix of first-time achievers from diverse fields, including Ira Singhal, the first differently abled woman to top the civil services; Punita Arora, the first woman to become lieutenant general; Priya Jhingan, the first cadet to join Indian Army; Radhika Menon, the first female merchant navy captain; and Harshini Kanhekar, the first woman firefighter.

After hearing about the award, Sethi told to, that she couldn't still believe it. "It’s hard to express how I feel, my journey so far is flashing before my eyes, feeling blessed and really looking forward," Sethi said.

At the moment, Sethi has around $114,597 in online tournament cashes and $44,310 in live tournament cashes. She also appeared on the PokerStars Shark Cage TV show in 2014, where she went on to finish runner-up.

The online gaming industry in India is growing at a rapid pace and sites like PokerStars have already set their eyes on the booming market.
