Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz Wins PokerStars $1m GTD High Roller $2,100 NLHE for $178,498

PokerStars inaugural $11m GTD High Rollers series kicked off yesterday with event #1, the $1m GTD $2,100 NLHE, and of course the king of the high rollers himself, Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz ended up victorious, winning $178,498.

442 entries were made into the two day event, with 55 reaching the money. As you'd expect in such a big event there were more than a few recognisable players in the field, many of whom reached the money, includling the likes of Vladimir 'vovtroy' Troyanovskiy (42nd, $6,724), Ignat "0Human0" Liviu (38th, $6,724), Dario "Secret_M0d3" Sammartino (32nd, $6,724), Igor Kurganov (25th, $8,173), Alexandre "Cavalito" Mantovani (16th, $10,647), and Jordan "JWPRODIGY" Westmorland (11th, $13,869).

Among those who ended up joining Fedor at the final table were Grayson "gray31" Ramage, Dinesh "NastyMinder" Alt, and Holz's partypoker stablemate Patrick "pads1161" Leonard

Holz fairly cruised through the majority of the final table, building up a 10m chip stack with play 5-handed, while the other four remaining players could only muster 12m between them. However, after 88maca88 disposed of both calculer_ in 5th ($56,789), and gray31 in 4th ($75,615), he found himself just 1m short of the German wunderkind, with just under 10m chips. By this time the only other remaining player,  NastyMinder was seriously outchipped with just 1.5m and he soon fell in 3rd ($100,682) to Holz, who went into heads-up play with a 12.7m to 9.4m chip lead.

It only took Fedor 11 hands to wrap up the match. He took the majority of his opponent's chips in the last hand of the tournament after shoving on a 10c 7h 7d 9c Kc board. 88maca88 called after rivering top pair with his Ks8s holding, only to see Fedor turn over 9s9d for a turned full house. 88maca88 took home $134,058 for finishing runner-up, while Fedor "CrownUpGuy" Holz added a nice $178,498 to his ever increasing net worth as he took down the opening event in the High Rollers Series.
