Fahredin Mustafov Beats Ike Haxton For partypokerLIVE Millions Grand Final High Roller

The final big event of the partypokerLIVE MILLIONS Grand Final in Barcelona, the €10,400 High Roller has been won by Bulgarian player Fahredin Mustafov who bested the 193 entry field to win €400,000 ($493,612) after beating online legend Isaac "philivey2694" Haxton heads-up.

This was by far Mustafov's biggest ever win, his previous best being $83,195 for winning the €5k High Roller at in October last year at the WSOPC event in Rozvadov where he won his 2nd WSOPC Gold Ring (he won his first in April last year at the same venue in a €2k high roller).

To win the event the Bulgarian pro had to overcome some seriously strong opposition including a final table which featured not only Ike Haxton but also the in-form Alex Foxen who has won some $3m in live tourneys since December including over $1.1m for finishing runner-up at the WPT Five Diamond Classic Main Event, $425k for winning February's $25k High Roller at the WPT LA Poker Classic, and over $963k for winning the Macua Super High Roller $50k. Add to that WSOP Final Tablist Benjamin Pollack, high roller Jake Schindler, who has almost $18m in live tourney cashes, WSOP bracelet winner Joey Weissman, partypoker Team Online's Dayane Kotoviezy, and multi-million dollar winning Canadian pro Andrew Chen and you can see that Mustafov really had to do it the hard way.

Foxen came into the final table with the chip lead, a lead he extended when his AK won a race against Jake Schindler's pocket Jacks to score the first elimination of the final table. Schindler exited in 8th for $86,800.

Above: Jake Schindler might have been the biggest live tourney winner to make the final table but he was first out on this occasion after being busted by early chip leader Alex Foxen.

Next out was Kotoviezy when the partypoker pro's A-J couldn't overtake Weismann's A-Q all-in pre-flop. The Brazilian pro made her biggest ever live score of $105k for her seventh place finish.

Once again AK won a race to take a scalp as Andrew Chen's pocket Queens were beaten by Haxton's big slick, sending the Canadian pro home in 6th for $123,408 - a win which took Chen's lifetime live tourney cashes over the $5m mark.

After the initial speight of eliminations the five-handed table had to play for another 2.5 hours before the next departure, and when it did it was a sick bad beat for Joey Weissman when he got it all in with A-J and was called by Mustafov with the same hand. The only difference was that Mustfov had a spade in his hand when the board filled up with spades to give him a flush and send Weissman home in 5th for $148,090.

Two quick eliminations followed with Mustafov keeping his foot on the gas as his pair of 9's outlasted Foxen's A-9 and sent him to the rail in 4th ($185,111), before Haxton's A-6 got the better of Pollack's K-8 to finish the French pro off in 3rd place ($246,816).

ikek Above: Ike Haxton is a regular at high roller final tables but he couldn't quite finish off the job at the MILLIONS Grand Final High Roller, taking the runner-up spot to Fahredin Mustafov in Barcelona

Mustfov started heads-up play with a 3:2 chip lead and stayed in front to take the title, finally finishing Haxton off after getting three streets of value on a J-T-2-3-5 board with A-J v A-10 for top pair, top kicker vs Haxton's 2nd pair, top kicker. Ike Haxton added $339,372 to his bankroll while Fahredin Mustafov almost doubled his lifetime earnings with his $493,632 score.
