Brandon Adams Wins Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown $25k High Roller for $370,000

Former Full Tilt pro and Harvard game theory lecturer Brandon Adams took down another high roller tournament yesterday, placing first in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $25,500 High Roller for $370,000.

Adams is doing rather well in high rollers of late, with his last foray into the live poker scene resulting in an $819,000 payday for winning one of the $50k tournaments in last September's Poker Masters Series. A month prior to that he won $351,000 for finishing third in another $25,500 High Roller at the Seminole Hard Rock.

To take this title Adams had to overcome an incredibly strong 40 player field, which included the likes of Cliff Josephy, Jonathan Little, Olivier "livb112" Busquet, Ankush "pistons87"  Mandavia, Chance "ChanceCU" Kornuth, and Ari Engel. Although none of the afroementioned made the final table Adams still had to face a formidable  group of players to take the tilte with three-time WPT winner Darren Elias, two time WSOP bracelet winner Shaun Deeb, and 2015 WSOP bracelet winner Barry Hutton all making the last six.

Adams got off to a flyer at the final table, making the first two eliminations, the first of which was a show-stopper of a hand against Shaun Deeb. Deeb got his last 14 big blinds in with pocket sixes and was called in a blind-on-blind showdown with Adams who turned over {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Two deuces on the flop put Adams way ahead before a six on the turn gave Deeb a full house. However, Deeb was cruelly dumped out in 6th ($60,000) when Adams hit quads on the river.

Next Adams took out Elias who had sunk to the short-stack with 5 remaining. He got it all-in with ad4d against Adams qcjd and looked good for a double-up all the way to the river when the qs sent him packing in 5th, good for $75,000.

A brief respite in the Brandon Adams show saw Barry Hutter pick up pocket Kings to bust Ajay Chabra in 4th when the latter's {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} failed to catch up. Chabra picked up $105,000 for his 4th place finish. However, Hutter's moment in the sun wasn't to last as Adams got back on the case and for the third time in a row he waited until the river to deliver the killer blow. Hutter had moved in with pocket twos and found a caller in Adams who turned over asjs, only for the jd to hit the river. Hutter bowed out in 3rd, good for a $150k payday, which took his lifetime live tourney winnings over the $4m mark.

Starting heads-up versus Spain's Pablo Fernandez with a 3-1 chip lead, Adams quickly took a huge lead after taking a big pot with two pairs early on in the one-on-one. He soon closed things out when he flopped a flush holding {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts} after Fernandez had gambled with {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. Fernandez picked up a career best $240,000 for finishing runner-up whilst Adams took his live tourney winnings over the $3m mark with his $370,000 win.
