SCOOP Titles for Niall "Firaldo87" Farrell, Roman "RomeOpro" Romanovsky, and Konstantin "BongBob" Bücherl

With 2018's SCOOP Championships now well underway there have already been several new champions crowned, and among the high stakes winners we have a live tourney crusher in Niall "Firaldo87" Farrell, an online tourney legend in Roman "RomeOpro" Romanovsky, and online high stakes grinder Konstantin "BongBob" Bücherl.

This was live Triple Crown Winner Farrell's second SCOOP title having already taken down the $2,100 NL Hold'em [Mix-Max, 6-Max] title in 2016. Yesterday evening he added a second $2.1k NLHE title although this time he won the $1m GTD Progressive KO which attracted 577 entries (his previous victory had only 105 runners). Beating JC "PrtyPsux" Alvarado in heads-up play, the top spot earned Firaldo87 $101,855, but his total winnings were more than double that amount as he crushed on the bounties, earning another $118,055 for a total win of $219,900. Alvarado picked up $75,948 in second, and also earned the second highest in bounties a long way behind Farrell with $27,258.

Above: With over $5m in live tourney winnings and $3m in online cashes Niall "Firaldo87" Farrell is a man in form. He demonstrated as much by winning his 2nd SCOOP title last night for $219k in total.

Roman "RomeOpro" Romanovsky has won over $449k in live tournaments but having not cashed in any live event since 2013 he is clearly much more comfortable on the virtual felt where he is one of the biggest ever winners with over $9m in cashes prior to his victory in yesterday's $1,050 NLHE 8 Max $500k GTD which drew 728 entries and earned him another $123,953. RomeOpro faced a tough field in the latter stages of the tournament which included the likes of Viktor "Isildur1" Blom (14th, $7,155), Michael "mczhang" Zhang (9th, $11,192), and Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo (4th, $48,672). Despite his already substantial online tournament winnings, this was Romanovsky's first COOP title of any denomination.

From the high stakes online cash game world Konstantin "BongBob" Bücherl also won his first COOP title after emerging victorious in the $2,100 PLO 6max for $130,329 after fending off another 354 PLO high rollers. Among those making the money in the $2.1k PLO 6 max were the likes of David "Bullitos" van der Weele (36th, $4,447), Shaun Deeb (28th, $5,560), Ike "philivey2694" Haxton (27th, $5,560) Laszlo "omaha4rollz" Bujtas (22nd, $6,950), and Gavin "gavz101" Cochrane (8th, $16,975).

Above: Konstantin "BongBob" Bucherl was a sit and go and tourney pro for years before transitioning to high stakes cash recently where he is doing very well. He's obviously not lost the knack for the tourney scene either as he scooped a SCOOP last night for over $130k.

Some of high stakes events are due to complete today with Sweden's iamivar leading both the $2.1k NLO8 [6max Progressive KO] with 10 players out of 121 remaining and the $1,050 NLHE [8-Max Progressive KO) with 75 out of 1,413 remaining. In the other high stakes event still ongoing Luke "lb6121" Schwartz is currently leading the $1,050 HORSE with 24/160 remaining as he goes for his 6th SCOOP crown.
