Patrick Leonard Chops $5200 SCOOP HR For $109K

By: Andrew Burnett

It was a case of the ‘bus scenario’ this week for online beast Roman ‘RomeOpro’ Romanovsky, who had waited a long time for his first SCOOP title and then found himself with two titles in the matter of a few days, yesterday chopping the $5200 High Roller NLHE 6 Max $500k GTD with Patrick ‘pads1161’ Leonard.

The 2018 Spring Championship of Online Poker had already seen Romanovsky take down the $1,050 NLHE 8 Max $500k GTD, edging out the likes of Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Justin "ZeeJustin" Bonomo to snag the top prize of $123,953, and his repeat performance last night earned him another $135,121.47 to add to his $9million in online cashes.

With 132 runners, the prizepool had swollen to $660,000 with 17 spots paid, and there would be plenty of big names missing out, Ike ‘philivey2694’ Haxton, Michael "mczhang" Zhang and Linus ‘LLinusLLove’ Loeliger among the also-rans, leaving a final table which included Leonard, ‘hotmark777’, ‘huang33’, ‘Paffchen’ and ‘cal42688’ standing between Romanovsky and his second SCOOP title.

A battle of the blinds might have seen Romanovsky fall in 5th, but Leonard’s early shove with A6, called by the A10 of Romanovsky, couldn’t get through, ‘pads1161’ adding a “sigh” to the chat as he watched his stack fall into the short category and Romanovsky take a commanding chip lead.

The Newcastle, England pro recovered, however, and eventually found himself heads-up with his Ukrainian friend and rival, the deal an amusing affair as shown by the chat-box banter.

Romanovsky: “Was telling you yesterday about the revenge from the WCOOP. THE TIME HAS COME!”

Leonard: <3 “can’t wait to leave you with one chip bro!” adding “Roman can get the first drinks in in Kiev!”

And with a high card ace to decide the extra $ set aside for the winner, Romanovsky secured his 2nd SCOOP title of the week – and ever!
