Nemeth Sees off Blom to Land $500K SCOOP High-Roller Title

Hungarian crusher Andras probirs Nemeth once again staked his claim to be among the very best in the world by taking down the $25k High Roller SCOOP title, walking off with the $576,087 ahead of a star-studded field which included Viktor Isildur1 Blom, Roman RomeOpro Romanovsky, Ole wizowizo Schemion and Bryn BrynKenney Kenney.

The biggest single prize up for grabs so far in the 2018 Spring Championship of Online Poker saw Nemeth take down his 3rd SCOOP title, a total of 100 total entries (77 entries, 23 re-entries) matching the $2.5million guarantee exactly and offering 13 players a huge payday, the unlucky bubble boy being Henrik ‘hhecklen’ Hecklen, hitting the rails and closing day one’s play.

Kenney was first to bust when play resumed and they were quickly down to a final table, Nemeth and Blom as chipleaders out in front of an all-star cast which saw Viktor ‘limitless’ lose out to Nemeth to set the official final table.

It continued to be the ‘probirs’ show for some time, Blom falling on the Hungarian’s sword with a river bluff-shove which was never getting through and ‘ROFLshove’ following suit when his big slick couldn’t overcome Nemeth’s pocket four’s.

With big names, big payouts, the blinds rising and big hands clashing, it was a finale worthy of a $25k – first up Ole ‘wizowizo’ Schemion knocking out Mike ‘SirWatts’ Watson in an ace vs bigger ace battle, then Schemion himself departing in 5th at the hands of heater-boy Romanovsky, with Nemeth disposing of Rui Ferreira.

Three hours in and huang33 had to settle for an excellent 3rd spot, double-SCOOP winner Roman ‘RomeOpro’ Romanovsky looking for a third title of the week, but Nemeth and a huge chip lead stood between him and glory.

Despite a concerted effort to close the gap, it needs a bit of luck at the right time, and Nemeth’s A♦ 5♦ heads-up shove prevented any glorious comeback despite trailing ‘RomeOpro’ and his A♥ 6♥. A sweet 5 on the flop and that’s all she wrote, Nemeth taking the tile and $576,087 while Romanovsky would have to be content with another fantastic SCOOP tournament result and his biggest cash to date of $442,299.
