Calvin ‘Cal42688’ Anderson Leads in the PokerStars SCOOP Points Race

A blistering weekend of SCOOP action saw Calvin cal42688 Anderson take down two titles and cement himself atop the leaderboard, opening up a 125 point gap in the race to take down the $30k Platinum Pass, plus the trophy and bragging rights.

The American, playing out of Mexico, has been ranked number one in online MTT’s many times throughout his impressive career, over $5million in career cashes and adding another two tournament titles to his resume to reach remarkable double-figures, 10 SCOOP titles.

First up for the MTT wizard was event 19-H on the SCOOP schedule, a $2,100 NLHE [6-Max], $500K GTD event which saw Anderson lift $126,659, ahead of nearest rivals Aaron ‘AaronBeen’ Been and David ‘Dpeters17’ Peters. SCOOP title number nine and there was more to come…

Next on the list of the record-breaking run was SCOOP 26-H a $1,050 FLO8 [8-Max] tournament with a $125K guarantee, Anderson agreeing to a 3-way chop with Sebastian 'p0cket00' Sikorski and Connor 'blanconegro' Drinan to land his 10th SCOOP victory, and another $26,305 in his bulging back pocket.

Anderson’s double SCOOP weekend was not his first, Jason Glatzer over at PokerNews recalling Anderson’s similar – and even quicker – duo of victories back in 2011 which came within the space of 24 hours.

In second spot on the SCOOP overall leaderboard is Finnish online pro Jussi Nevanlinn, although his otherwise excellent 605 points to date is unlikely to worry Anderson as the two week SCOOP series nears its finale, the $30k Platinum Pass to the $25k buy-in PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship almost in his grasp.

With the SCOOP series split into Low, Medium and High categories, Anderson is also in line to win the separate ‘High’ leaderboard race, an extra $10k in pocket money up for grabs. The secret to his success, as he divulged to Pokerlistings Matthew Showell back in 2013?

“Right from the beginning I think I was one of the rare cases of a true grinder. I've always played on my own, never been backed and I've hardly ever sold action in any tournaments.”

With more than 30 SCOOP cashes this series, Anderson is proving once again he is among the very best in the online MTT game, although as I write he has just busted short of the cash in the $1million guaranteed SCOOP 40-H $5200 buy-in NLHE High Roller.
