Tom Dwan Spotted in Vegas

When Phil Ivey declared he would be playing the World Series of Poker this summer, fans of the game were ecstatic – and now they may have twice as much to cheer about, the legendary Tom durrrr Dwan spotted in Vegas with Hong Kong-based impresario Stanley Choi, although no-one as yet quite knows why he is here…

The Aria is a regular hangout for the big names players, putting on High Roller tournaments every other week, while the Bellagio is noted for the Big Game at Bobby’s Room, and the Rio playing host to the WSOP again, with some huge events on the horizon – but the big question now is, will Dwan be playing any of them?

Dwan’s plans..?

Aria High Rollers? Unlikely.

Dwan, who took to the felt at Triton’s Montenegro Super Series last month, is unlikely to be in town for the Aria High Rollers, even though Justin Bonomo won back-to-back titles just a couple of weeks ago, although he may well use them to get some practice in…

Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio? Quite possibly

With Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu and a slew of Dwan’s long-time friends and foes all putting in an appearance this month in the legendary Bobby’s Room, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Dwan getting on the big cash game action, especially if Doyle Brunson’s ‘threat’ to retire from his favourite seat there is true – Dwan fancying one last shot at the Grandaddy of the game.

The WSOP Main Event? We hope so!

It’s been a long time since Tom Dwan graced the World Series with his presence, and he’s never even cashed in the Main Event, but with only 10 days to go until the premier tournament of the summer kicks off – as far as poker lovers go – it would be amazing to see Dwan take his seat among the thousands of fans in the Rio.

The $50K WSOP High Roller? Hmmm, perhaps…

Still three weeks away, this one is in Dwan’s price range, but it’s very doubtful he’s in Vegas just for this. Much more likely is the…

$1million+ Big One for One Drop? Definitely maybe!

With the field capped at 48 players, there are still some seats left in the biggest buy-in event on the calendar, only 30 players confirmed so far but including Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu, Justin Bonomo – and Dwan’s inclusion would make this one of the most interesting tournaments in modern poker history

…we’ll likely find out soon enough what Dwan’s plans are, but my guess is a combination of all of the above, and perhaps Stanley Choi is just here to carry Dwan’s buy-ins!
