Daniel Negreanu Inducts Maria Ho into Women in Poker Hall of Fame

This year is the 10th Anniversary of the founding of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame. And it is receiving two new members: Maria Ho and Lupe Soto.

Maria’s contributions are known to most people who follow the game. She has over $2.8 million in tournament cashes, 4 WSOP final table appearances, and a whole other career as a poker journalist, commentator and interviewer.

 

 

Lupe Soto, whose tournament winnings are just $2,996 and with just four cashes ever, has had a more behind the scenes roll promoting the game as one of the founders of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame.

She set up to in the words of its charter to commemorate, “women of outstanding performance in the poker world. Its purpose is to enhance awareness and celebrate contributions and achievements of women in poker as recognized and respected representatives and proponents of women in poker.”

The hall first inducted it’s crew of players and campaigners in 2008 when Barbara Enright, Linda Johnson, Marsha Waggoner and Susie Isaacs had their portraits hung on the wall. Since then the inductees have ranges from big name players like Cyndy Violette, Jennifer Harman and Vicky Coren-Mitchell.

 

 

Daniel Negreanu was brought in to introduce Maria and give out the awards at the induction ceremony, where he gave a very moving speech.

Maria and Lupe are the 20th and 21st inductees into the Hall.
