The Best Of WSOP Main Event Day 5 Highlights!

There was to be no Main Event glory for Antonio The Magician Esfandiari at the Rio Casino last night, his deep run ending when he ran top pair into a set of fours - the former stage conjurer unable to pull anything magical from his bag of tricks…

A late-night lighting failure in the Amazon Room may have cut play short…

…with heavy rain making its way through the roof of the Rio, prompting some unusual sights for a poker event…

…but there was plenty of action to be witnessed before that – 310 players whittled down to just 109 in the chase for the gold bracelet and the $8.8million top prize. There is always interest in seeing if anyone can ‘do a double’ in the Main Event, poker writer and journalist Lance Bradley doing the counting…

…and that list was reduced to just three overnight, the French duo of Sylvain Loosli and Benjamin Pollak both still well in the running, with 2009 champion Joe Cada aiming for an even more spectacular double…

One of the players getting huge attention right now is Kelly Minkin, and not just because she is the last woman standing – her aggressive play landing her in some amazing hands and seeing her take the chip lead at one point…

‘The_Illest’ will have to get things moving early on Day 6, however, as she ended up near the bottom of the chip counts among the remaining 109 players.
