Nick Schulman may have taken down the ‘baby’ version of the Short Deck yesterday, but it was a different US crew who were trying to fight off the strong and experienced Asian contingent in Jeju, South Korea – unsuccessfully as it turned out, with Leow battling Rui Cao for the title heads-up…

Fan favourite Tom Dwan found himself deep in the mix on the second day…

…but he finally succumbed when Leow turned a straight in the following hand, out in 5th with $252,371 to show for his efforts.

Fellow American Jason Koon was still there though, his rollercoaster experience at the previous Triton stop in Montenegro unlikely to be forgotten, but his Jeju adventure was cut short when he feel in 3rd spot…

This left Leow and the more-experienced Cao to battle it out for title, the Malaysian amateur telling PokerNews reporters afterwards: "I've only been playing short deck for a few months. I started with Wai Kin [Yong] and all the crew. We learn the game, it's still a new game."

When it came, the end was brutal, Leow hitting runner-runner flush to dispose of his worthy opponent and lift the $1million+ first prize…

…staying: "It's great. I'm very happy," with kind words for his defeated rival Cao. "Rui Cao is very, very good. I think that, in my opinion, he's the best short deck player in the world”.

HK$500k Triton Hold'em results:

1 Ivan Leow $1,079,586
2 Rui Cao $672,989
3 Jason Koon $462,680
4 Devan Tang $336,494
