Hata Makes His Name With $756,000 Sochi High Roller Win

There is a new name on the high roller circuit and it’s Aymon Hata – the young pro taking down the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia 3,000,000 Rouble buy-in High Roller ahead of a stellar field – and taking his earnings over the last months to more than $2million…

By: Andrew Burnett

A somewhat multinational final table sat down in Sochi to decide the destination of the Triton Super High Roller series run event, and they don’t come much more multinational than Hata – dual UK and Japanese passports thanks to his mother and father, although he himself was raised in Germany – and now lives in London!

The roughly $50k buy-in is half of what Hata paid at the World Series this year when he collected $1,247,230 for 3rd spot in the $100k High Roller, and there was another huge payday on the cards yesterday if he could see off the likes of Paul Phua, Patrik Antonius and Philipp Gruissem to name but three of the contenders.

"It was definitely tough Hata told reporters afterwards, adding “I got lucky once with ace-jack against kings and from there on things went really well."

Really well included disposing of the flying Finn Patrik Antonius, a flush over flush sending the legend out in 4th, with Hata having the Russian pair of Uspenskii and Troyanovskiy to deal with – which he duly did - the final hand below…

Final table results

1 Aymon Hata $756,000
2 Vladimir Troyanovskiy $501,795
3 Konstantin Uspenskii $354,375
4 Patrik Antonius $236,250
5 Paul Phua $165,375
6 Philipp Gruissem $118,125
