PokerStars Sunday Disaster Angers Players While ACR Launch Attack on partypoker

A server crash during the big Sunday PokerStars schedule has left thousands of players raging at the site after players from several countries unaffected by the problems walked off with massive paydays after an hour of blind-stealing…and ACR plumbed new depths by attacking and mocking partypoker after DDoS attacks severely disrupted their schedule twice this week.

PokerStars server crashes during big Sunday schedule

… the problems were fuelled by a huge error, or sheer incompetence on PokerStars part, when they finally cancelled the tournaments but paid out based on final stacks rather than stacks at the time the servers gave up the ghost for masses of their faithful players…

Not only Twitter was set alight by the ridiculous response to the cancelled events, two separate threads started on the 2+2 forum, user ‘teejayC’ providing cliff notes for those playing catch-up on the weekend’s biggest story:

  • Servers go down for everyone but a few countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Belgium afaik)
  • Stars takes an hour to pause tourneys
  • they cancel tourneys then pay out according to current stacks rather than rolling back to when the issues started
  • players from countries mentioned above win all the monies.

With dozens of complaints hitting the Twittersphere almost immediately when the results were posted…

...TwitchTV streamer Karlencho showing exactly what it looked like for those lucky enough to remain connected…

In ‘breaking news’, however, PokerStars have responded to their extremely unhappy customers, promising to review the payouts and refunds, Daniel Negreanu retweeting the Stars attempt to placate their players…

ACR attack partypoker

PokerStars weren’t the only site to see their site hit by serious problems this week, multiple DDoS attacks affecting partypoker, with Americas CardRoom (ACR) pouncing on their rival’s misfortune to apparently stick the boot in, despite their own serious and longstanding issues…

partypoker have been building up a huge following and fanbase over the last year or two, and were quick to respond to the DDoS attacks, Managing Director Tom Waters apologising to all those affected…

…and updating players on a daily basis after the attacks last Thursday and the previous Saturday…

…while ACR are still getting it in the neck from their own players for not pausing the tournaments or dealing with the issues that have plagued the site for a long time now

... one witty tweet from HighStakes.com pro Joseph ‘subiime’ Cheong hopefully just in jest…

…although given ACR’s recent behaviour almost anything is believable at this point, Joey Ingram again on the ball looking into their most recent ACR shenanigans…
