Mikita Badziakouski Wins EPT Barcelona Super High Roller Title For €1,650,300

Belarussian crusher Mikita Badziakouski took down the €1,650,300 first prize at the PokerStars EPT Barcelona Super High Roller today after seeing off a multinational final table in the €100k buy-in event, launching himself into 22nd spot in the all-time tournament earnings list…

Nine players were left over from yesterday’s brutal action, which saw Daniel Negreanu and Patrik Antonius come up short, but only seven would find themselves in the money - more than €5million to be divvied up if they could get rid of just two…

…and the unlucky duo were the US gloryseekers Cary Katz and Byron Kaverman, both felled in brutal fashion by Austrian Matthias Eibinger, who went runner-runner to kill Catz’s hopes before a sweet turn card disposed of Kaverman…

Between Eibinger and unfancied Ahadpur Khangah, the final table was quickly whittled down to three – and Eibinger’s luck eventually ran out, Khangah catching him out as the blinds rose, leaving Badziakouski as the only roadblock between the Iranian and the title.

Two hands, both involving kings and kickers apiece, were what finally separated the pair, Badziakouski winning both and securing the massive €1,650,300 payday.

With an incredible 2018 under his belt already, the Belarus man would later state of his opponent: “He played really aggressively. It’s a pleasure to play with him, and I definitely didn’t expect it,” adding of his own victory: “It feels great - I’m running pretty hot lately. Just being lucky – that’s it!"
