Steve O’Dwyer wins partypoker MILLIONS UK SHR for $585,000

There are very few High-Roller tournaments in the world which would not be happy to have the name of Steve O Dwyer adorning the winners trophy, the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS UK £25k Super High Roller the latest in a long list of victories for the 36-year old Colorado Springs pro – taking down $585,000 for his fine efforts.

With 51 entries, the Super High Roller sported a very enticing £1,236,750 ($1,607,775) prizepool – the two day event would see eight men make it to the final table, but only six walk off with a cheque in their back pocket. The unlucky number seven? None other than 2013 WSOP Main Event champ Ryan Riess, although he was soon back in his seat for the MILLIONS UK Main Event opening day.

O’Dwyer, it seemed, was on a mission in the Dusk Till Dawn Casino in Nottingham, eliminating every other opponent after Riess had departed, and finding himself heads-up against Fabrizio Cataldi – an 8-1 chip lead soon forcing the young Uruguayan’s hand, which turned out to be the best there is in poker!

Pocket aces, however, are no match for a man on a roll, and when O’Dwyer turned a full house it was celebration time, now just $300k or so away from David Peters in 10th spot of the all-time tournament money-winners list

Final results

1 Steve O’Dwyer $585,000
2 Fabrizio Gonzalez $372,775
3 Orpen Kisacikoglu $260,000
4 Christoph Vogelsang $182,000
5 Aymon Hata $130,000
6 Niall Farrell $78,000
