Phil Ivey's Top 3 Triton Cash Game Pots

A few weeks ago, we took a look back at the horrific day Matt Kirk had at the cash table. He is not the only one who had a major losing session on camera this year, however - here are 3 pots from the day Phil Ivey lost almost $900K.

This €2,000/€4,000/€4,000 Triton cash game took place in Montenegro back in May. The 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Ivey ended the session with an €750,000 loss. To be fair, he had some serious competition in the game - Patrik Antonius, Daniel “Jungleman” Cates and Tom “durrrr” Dwan all bought in to play.

The deck certainly didn’t help either Ivey that day. Here, when he gets a premium hand, KQ suited, of course he’s up against Antonius’ pocket Aces. To make things worse, Ivey even caught a King on the turn - while Antonius flopped top set. This hand alone ended up costing the American poker legend around €200,000.

It’s somewhat of a cooler for Ivey this time: his top pair-top kicker is no good against Paul Phua’s top two. That’s a near €700,000 pot lost.

Here, our hero gets creative opening up 65 from early position. Too bad his opponent turns a boat, so it’s another hefty sum of money not going Ivey’s way.
