Pavel Plesuv Wins WPT Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open For $504,820

Moldovas Pavel Plesuv continued his heater year with a $504,820 take down of the WPT Seminole Rock N Roll Poker Open this week, seeing off almost 900 other players to bring his season’s earnings to more than $2.6million…

The win at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood is worth more than any other Moldovan poker player has in lifetime earnings, bar one, with 3rd-placed Valeriu Coca perhaps the only other name poker fans will recognise from the small Eastern European country.

Coincidentally, Plesuv now plies his trade out of the Czech Republic, a country from which compatriot Coca is banned from every casino for cheating.

No need for such shenanigans from Plesuv, however, who has proved himself very capable of taking on the best – a runner-up spot to Viktor Blom at the partypoker MILLIONS earlier this year good for $924,841.

Of his latest success, Plesuv told reporters afterwards: “It feels really awesome because I was heads-up three years ago at the WPT in Prague with a big lead and I lost it heads-up." This time round he didn’t let the title slip, a long heads-up ending in a classic flip to dispose of Jim Gilbert.

Plesuv added: “This is the best year so far… I’ve been running pretty good.”

Final Results

1 Pavel Plesuv $504,820

3 Jeremy Joseph $240,945
4 Marius Gierse $179,710
5 Chris Kennedy $135,505
6 Ravi Raghavan $103,310
