David Peters Crushes the $5K NL Event at Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open For Second Year Running

High-stakes star David Peters has crushed the opposition in the $5,000 NL event at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open for the second year in a row. In a superstitious twist, the American turned up even wearing the same clothes as he did last year.

“It was a fun tournament. I’m wearing the same sweatshirt and everything. Things went pretty well at the final table early on. Then I lost a bunch of chips and I battled back and it worked out.”

Peters outlasted a field of 95 players which originally saw a guarantee of $250,000, but ended up with a prize pool of almost double with first place paying out $143,159.

Although Peters was by far the biggest name in the tournament, he was joined by a pair of WSOP gold bracelet winners in William Givens and Joey Weissman. Other notable names were Team Pokerstars Online Pro Jeff Gross and the runner up Guillaume Diaz who has won a couple of side events at the EPT.

This win takes Peters within reach of the $30 million point for live tournament winnings. Any decent score over December will see him do it before the end of the year, although he is still $2,500,000 behind Fedor Holz in fourth place on the all-time list.

Final Results:

1 David Peters $143,159
2 Guillaume Diaz $85,738
3 Alex Haber $54,150
4 Joey Weissman $34,972
5 Jake Schwartz $27,075
6 Stanley Lee $21,434
7 Jeff Gross $18,050
8 William Givens $15,794
