Romain Arnaud Wins Jeju Red Dragon SHR for $668K

Frenchman Romain Arnaud swapped the highstakes cash game tables for tournament victory this weekend, taking down the $668,000 top prize at the Red Dragon Super High Roller event in PokerStars LIVE Asia stop in Jeju.

The $54,000 buy-in attracted 44 runners, creating a record-breaking prizepool for the PokerStars crew in a Korean event, with many of the biggest names in Asian poker in attendance.

The big win saw him facing fellow Frenchman Rui Cao – another Macau regular – heads-up for the title, but after agreeing to an ICM deal they resorted to a ‘blind all-in shootout’ to decide the winner.

It took five hands to seal Cao’s fate as runner-up, eventually falling with 10♣ 2♦ to Arnaud’s K♣ 8♣ when the board ran out Q♣ J♦ 5♣ A♥ J♥

Arnaud has long been known as an excellent nosebleed stakes cash game pro, after quitting his medical studies back in 2010 to focus on the game, and despite his Jeju victory he won’t be switching to tournaments, stating: "It's a good feeling, but I'm predominantly a cash game player and that's what I'll be sticking to."

Final Table Results:

1 Romain Arnaud $668,000
2 Rui Cao $619,418
3 Michael Soyza $335,723
4 Ivan Seng Yee Leow $257,387
5 Wai Kin Yong $201,434
6 Shunu Zang $156,671
