Henrick Hecklen Holds Off Schemion for €503,700 EPT High Roller Victory

With Paul Michaelis taking down the Main Event earlier in the day, Schemion was the only German left in the highroller field as day 3 began, and he was still there long after 16 other players had cashed and left, only the formidable form of Hecklen standing in his way.

It had been a tough field, Australia’s Michael Addamo, Canada’s Daniel Dvoress and defending champion Danny Tang all making the final table, with the top 6 guaranteed six-figure paydays from the €2,512,300 prizefund.

Hecklen had already cashed in the Main Event, a 23rd spot finish for €33,540 showing his tournament skills, and he explained afterwards that his cash game background was well-suited to the deepstack play in Prague.

"My background is in deepstacked cash games and heads-up, I think the structure was very favourable for me. It was certainly better than 20 big blind shoving poker. It suits me very well for sure."

A spirited fightback by Schemion was first halted, then beaten back by the Dane – finishing the job off with pocket queens to clinch the trophy.

Final results

1 Henrik Hecklen €503,700
2 Ole Schemion €334,900

5 Daniel Dvoress €155,010
6 Tomas Paiva €117,340
7 Michael Addamo €86,170
8 Anton Yakuba €63,310
