Ike Haxton Wins SHRB for $3.672million

Ike Haxton took the Super High Roller Bowl crown and $3.672 million last night, crossing the $20million lifetime earnings milestone and cementing his place among pokers greats.

He told reporters after his historic victory: “This is my biggest score ever and easily the best accomplishment. This is the highlight of my tournament career.”

The 5th edition of the $300k buy-in superstar-studded tournament had reached its final table of seven, and Haxton was in excellent company – Poker Masters Purple Jacket champion Ali Imsirovic, highstakes crusher Stephen Chidwick and new kid on the highroller block Alex Foxen among them.

Imsirovic was first to hit the rail, his hopes flushed away by Haxton, and Igor Kurganov followed when he ran into Adrian Mateos’ aces and then Talal Shakerchi’s 10’s. Three sharp exits followed in a series of big races, leaving Haxton and Foxen to battle it out for top honours.

Hollywood Ike swiftly drew away from his talented counterpart and the end came when Haxton spiked two pair on the turn and river to end Foxen’s dreams.

An elated Haxton stated afterwards: “It’s easy, in the moment, to fall into putting too much significance into one tournament. It’s a 36-player event and I was the luckiest guy this time and won. I don’t think it changes anything about the player I am or my legacy, but damn does it feel good to win a tournament.”
