Final Eight Set to Chase $5.1million PSPC Title

The final table of eight has been set to decide the destination of the $5.1million first prize at the PokerStars Players Championship in the Bahamas, with two Platinum Pass winners still in with a chance of the ultimate freeroll victory

A frantic day of action saw the 38 remaining players start in the money - $86,400 assured – but with the top six prizes promising $million+ paydays there was much more to play for.

First to bust was Jacqueline Burkhart, the Platinum Pass winner’s excellent run ending at the hands of Kristen Bicknell.

Among the big names hitting the rails we saw Belarus highstakes pro Mikita Badziakouski, who couldn’t get things going, and Dan O’Brien joined him – the first of the 6-figure payouts with $105k for 34th spot.

Griffin Benger – of WSOP ‘Check your privilege William Kassouf’ fame ran deep, but eventually bowed out on 14th spot for $229,700 and Canadian star Bicknell would only ladder up the payscale, $328,500 decent compensation although victory was her main aim as one of the best players left in.

Florian Duta was the unlucky final table bubble-boy – if you can ever really call cashing for $405k unfortunate – getting his chips in good only to run into a turned flush at the hands of Jattin, and the eight players left standing could have a well-earned break.

The chip leaders from each of the first 3 days were there – Shakerchi, Jattin and Baumstein, the latter keeping his top spot – while Philippines’ Marc Rivera and Ramon Colillas of Spain have already lived the dream courtesy of the Platinum Passes they won.

With 8th spot worth over $500,000, Collilas lifetime poker earnings of around $10k show just how big of a deal this event is for many.

Chip counts:

Scott Baumstein 10,725,000
Marc Rivera 10,350,000
Julien Martini 8,600,000
Farid Jattin 8,525,000
Ramon Colillas 8,300,000
Jason Koonce 7,125,000
Talal Shakerchi 5,550,000
Marc Perrault 2,225,000
