High Stakes Gambler Loses $3.8 Million on Super Bowl

An unnamed gambler lost nearly $4 million after making a series of bets on the Los Angeles Rams to defeat the New England Patriots and win the Super Bowl.

The Patriots, behind aging quarterback Tom Brady, beat the Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII, covering the 2.5 point spread in the process. It was Brady's sixth Super Bowl victory in nine tries as a Patriot.

Bettor X

The high stakes sports bettor, who's been given the moniker of "Bettor X" by the media, placed his wagers at Las Vegas sportsbooks in the days leading up to Super Bowl Sunday. He bet $2 million on Thursday, $1.5 million more the following day, and another $300K shortly thereafter, ESPN reported.

Bettor X placed each wager on the money line at +120 odds, standing to collect $4.56 million had the Rams been victorious. A flat offense did in the team from L.A., as they managed only 3 points in what many expected would be a high scoring game. The over/under line was 56 points.

That $3.8 million loss may be a tough pill to swallow for Bettor X. He would have been much better off taking a shot at the games available at Online Casino in Deutschland or the PayPal Casino. Both offer a wide variety of online casino games with generous Welcome Bonuses.

Hot Streak

On the other hand, the word on the street is that Bettor X isn't hurting for cash. He's been identified as the same gambler who made a killing betting against the Patriots in Super Bowl LII in 2018.

The Philadelphia Eagles upset New England last year, resulting in a $6 million score for Bettor X after he plunked down $4 million and cheered mightily for Brady to lose.

That followed a wildly successful 2017 World Series that saw Bettor X pocket roughly $10 million when the Houston Astros defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers.

We likely haven't heard the last of Bettor X and his propensity to wager large sums of money. His $3.8 million in bets contributed to the roughly $6 billion in estimated Super Bowl wagers on last Sunday's game.
